MFW: Lara Chimandi SS24
“[Our] belief that we are the Moon, Water, Fire, Earth and Air informs all of our responsible creations. Pursuing the coherence of a linear yet incontrovertible thought of wearing Nature to remind ourselves that we are Nature, our collections are made from natural fibres and designed to cure our souls and reconnect with the elements so that we become one with the Universe”, says Lara Chamandi, Founder and Creative Director.
With 1920s silhouettes, lingerie-like slip dresses and fluid volumes, Lara Chimandi's SS24 collection stands as a cosmic intersection of the romantic and technical, with silky, lightweight fabrics juxtaposed against crisp, sporty materials in the brand’s beloved iconic duality. Fire inspires a palette of warm nuances, from scarlet to pink and yellow, combined with complementary shades of lime, lilac and aquamarine.
Whilst the movement of the flames twirling in the universe influences asymmetrical hems and triangular shapes for tops and dresses, the collection is a tribute to the evocative circular shape of the Sun and Moon, celebrated through outstanding curved cuts, intricate rounded inlays and cut-outs, as well as by circular skirts. Rays of light radiate with lines of contrasting colours and folds of sunray pleats culminating into the flessage technique used for knitwear pieces.
The collection’s theme is further expressed through a solemn ode to prints as artworks, including the Divine Feminine and an all-over motif featuring waxing and waning moons as polka dots, emerging as a crimson love language portraying the dance of the Sun and the Moon.
