MFW: Neil Barrett AW24
Keeping and breaking tradition – Neil Barrett's AW24 collection embodies heritage and modernity. Menswear stables are evolved, wardrobe essentials are reimagined – proposing a fusion of past and future for the upcoming season. Pieces have a transformative nature through their silhouettes and engineered function. Seams twist around the wrist, outerwear pieces are hybridised, shifting how they are worn.
Traditional British Harris tweeds are recreated as Techno-tweeds. Refined heritage fabrics are translated to workwear and urban sportswear pieces, fusing notions of the formal and casual. They are a reflection of a twenty-first century masculine wardrobe and the mindset of menswear. Practical elbow-patches migrate to cuffs, the pleats of shirts become channels of fabric, while pockets are layered. Gloves and caps are gestures to workwear, while the materials create the perfect balance of nonchalance and elegance. The colour palette is subdued and clean, from camel, muted green and olive, greys and navies to oxblood, black and white.
