There is currently such a disconnect between what we see in a store or runway and all the steps that have happened before, a big part of my work with Stem is trying to visualise and share that process.” - Sarah Brunnhuber, Founder of Stem.

Launching Edition 3, Stem's "The Pulling Collection" further explores handcraft and industrial weaving. Stimulated by Stem founder Sarah Brunnhuber’s dedication to sustainability, the 6-piece collection explores a blend of high-tech and low-tech in its approach to zero-waste garment construction.

Featuring asymmetrical fringes and woven silhouettes, the Copenhagen-based brand pushing the boundaries of the loom and features the by Brunhhuber developed weaving technique ‘Pulling'. This innovative method, which is similar to smocking, gathers fabric to create volume and shape, combining digitally woven material with hand-knotting.

Edition 3 challenges the fashion industry’s shift towards automation by celebrating a measured approach to production. The garments, designed together with design assistant Mathilde Mortens, woven in a mill in Bergamo, Italy, are the newest addition to Stem's offering.

Since their launch in 2021, sustainability is central to every decision Brunnhuber makes. Stems philosophy is: Produce better, produce less – buy better, buy less. This philosophy shines through in the way the collections are made – this includes the raw materials, as she only works with certified natural fibres; the production techniques, which involves zero-waste & the pulling technique, to sharing Stem’s production story through its pieces.
