A separate place between the thought and felt

Judith Dean, No Fly Zone, 2024. Acrylic on polyester, 122 x 61 cm

South Parade is home to A separate place between the thought and felt, a group exhibition bringing together modern and historic works, presenting works from the 20th and 21st century.

Taking its name from the first line of The Corridor, a poem by Thom Gunn, A separate place converts the viewer into a voyeur too, being present in places they are not supposed to be in. From filmmaker Abraham Cruzvillegas' intimate research influenced by his surroundings, friends and family, to neglected spaces amplifying discomfort in photographer Rosa Klerkx's imagery, the show combines works inspecting our sense of beloning in a space and the differing ways to experience the world; whether conceptual, visual, tactile and other.

Other artists presenting their work in this exhibition are Andrew North, Motoko Ishibashi, Tuulani Hlalo, Tom Hardwick-Allan, Judith Dean, Peter Brock, Katie Shannon, Terence McCormack, Dorothy Mead and Gillian Lowndes.
