MFW: SUNNEI SS24
Using the audience as part of the runway experience, SUNNEI encourages the viewer to watch and express their thoughts on the Spring/Summer 2024 collection, as "the audience has always something to say".
The SS24 volumes go from very tight to extremely oversized. Jersey and stretch items falls into the first group, including various shapes of tops with cut-outs, which are designed to be layered. On the other side there are exceptionally voluminous tulip-shaped intarsia pieces, meticulously crafted by highly-skilled artisans. Long fringes make garments move dynamically and stripes are synonymous with SUNNEI, manifested in various forms.
CUORE DI PIETRA, derived from reinterpreting an old-school pop motif, a heart with an arrow, and infusing it with SUNNEI's signature wordplay, resulting in a stone heart. This distinctive shape is showcased across ready-to-wear and accessories. The same goes for jewellery. This season’s earrings not only resemble hearts carved into stones, but their texture and weight is also that of actual rocks, but is actually made of brass. Their colours and veins have been meticulously selected to evoke specific gemstones: rose onyx, green jade, blue lapis lazuli and grey rock. A selection of azure and ecru items showcases a pixelated-like print with a textured effect. Finely crafted Japanese knitwear embodies see-throughness. Bags and accessories are playful, evident in the used colours and the new designs. Experimentations with materials led to the introduction of the Cuoio family and a selection of knitted shoes. SUNNEI's sunglasses line, known as PROTOTIPO, introduces the PROTOTIPO 6 this season. What sets this new style apart is its double lens, crafted from the same see-through material used for its frames.
