NYFW: Maisie Wilen SS24
Wearable, fun and filled with exciting materials and prints, the Maisie Wilen Spring-Summer 2024 collection explores American sportswear with an industrial twist. Known for its playful, hyper-digital approach, the brand shifts its focus to daywear inspired by Angeleno Americana for the new season.
The introduction of clean-cut cotton and denim recontextualizes Maisie Wilen’s staples, featherweight jerseys and perforated knits. While the brand’s clothes have always had a minimalistic silhouettes, this season champions American classics, including cargo pants, button ups with matching ties, and A-line skirts.
Prints look to the brand’s home, Los Angeles, by mixing elements of the natural landscape with the city’s showbiz characteristics. Materials commonly used for set fabrication, including silicone sand, plaster, and giant angel wings, were sourced from local film industry vendors. By placing organic and tactile prints, such as wood grain and quilts, via digital print onto sleek silhouettes, Maisie Wilen highlights the industrial foundation of both American sportswear and Los Angeles.
