A deep love for clothing develops early on. For some, garments trace those memories and sensations associated with growing up, an alternate voice through which we tried on and shaped the different versions of ourselves. PRISCAVera SS24 contemplates and builds on our earliest relationships to fashion, the various languages and tactics involved in getting dressed and the tensions between mischief and conformity. This collection celebrates women’s ability to communicate and play with meaning through clothes, weaving together tradition and pop culture, in line with the label’s ongoing approach.

By day the SS24 PRISCAVera woman embraces soft dressing; she is sexy because she feels comfortable wearing a new line of expertly tailored, yet loose fitting basics. Pants and tops in printed snake denim, snake lycra and jersey, pink paw mesh, velour and linen ensembles, bedazzled cotton rib tops, and striped tech taffeta loose-fitting drawstring pants. At night she shines with an attitude and sensorial fabrics take center stage: crinkle chiffon skirts, satin twill ensembles, a translucent lurex gown and ruffled tank top, and a basket weave jacquard line with Renaissance motifs and structure – though it would have been outlawed five-hundred years ago. Shapes and styles carefully combine between outerwear and underwear, alternating the boxer look with skimpy silhouettes, with craftsmanship focusing more on draping than structure.

In imagining the collection, the label’s designer looks into childhood memories – her own and those of her friends and family – adopting the lens of what it means to dress with the “filter” of an age of rebellious innocence. This involved looking at photo albums and sharing memories of feelings, strategies and desires around fashion: a phase we can all relate to and at times strive to relive.
